3 Natural Remedies to Treat Boils Effectively

Boils are painful bumps and nothing to play with, as they are often a sign of infection. They can be as small as a pimple or as big as a golf ball. Thankfully, there are natural ways to ease the pain and prevent infections from spreading.

One method is essential oils. Essential oils have been used for thousands of years to cure various ailments including boils and are making their way back into our modern era. From tea tree, to lavender, to thieves, which is a combination of clove, lemon, cinnamon bark, eucalyptus, and rosemary oils, they offer powerful results. These essential oils possess antibacterial and antiseptic substances that aid in opening up the boil quickly and drawing out any infection present. The oils can be applied to the boil using a few drops along with carrier oils such as coconut oil, olive oil, and jojoba oil.

Turmeric powder is another natural remedy to heal boils. Turmeric is a root vegetable that has been used in India for millennia as well. It is used as a seasoning for food as well as for medicinal purposes. It also carries antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.

Turmeric powder can be applied topically or taken internally as both methods have been known to have the same effect. It can be applied directly to the boil in combination with coconut oil, almond oil, and tea tree oil, just to name a few. Turmeric can be taken internally as a hot tea by adding one teaspoon of the powder to 4 cups of boiled water. It can also be taken as a cold beverage by adding one teaspoon of the powder to a glass of milk or water.

Epsom salt has also been proven to be an effective natural method against boils. Epsom salt has antiseptic and antimicrobial capabilities. It comes from the mineral magnesium sulfate. It was initially used in natural healing baths in Epsom, England around the 17th century and has been used in various ways ever since.

This salt has a drying effect that causes the boil to come to a point. It then draws out the infection while simultaneously reducing pain. Epsom salt can be applied as a warm compress directly to the boil by dissolving the salt in warm water and then soaking a cloth in the salt solution. It can be applied multiple times a day. To note, all of these remedies just like Epsom salt can be used in conjunction with a warm compression.

These are just a few treatments in a long list of natural remedies. Staying the course in using these methods at the onset of boils can help in the long term by preventing reoccurring boils. Although boils can be very painful and pose a threat of infection, it is good to know there are natural solutions that have proven to be effective against it.
