DIY Pumpkin Spice Face Scrub

Ahhhh, pumpkin spice: fall’s favorite flavor, from coffee, to cake, to candles. Now you can put it on your face!

We’ve formulated a fun fall mask that you can make using ingredients that are likely already stocked in your kitchen.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 packet NHCO Rosehip Botanical Powder

  • 1/4 cup fresh puréed pumpkin (or canned)

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder (don’t over do it!!!)

  • 1/2 tsp ginger powder

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar

  • Optional: 1/2 tsp ground coffee beans

Pumpkin is rich in alpha hydroxy acids (AHA), and vitamins A and C which helps with collagen production, helping your skin look bright and youthful.

Sugar acts as a gentle abrasive to scrub away dead skin cells.

Cinnamon can be irritating to the skin, however, when used in small quantities, has antibacterial properties, meaning it can assist with calming down acne. It also has skin lightening properties.

Ginger is widely used to help even out skin tone, and may help reduce the appearance of scars.

Rosehip helps to hydrate and moisturize the skin, exfoliates, and brightens the skin.

Coffee is high in antioxidants, helps to exfoliate and brighten the skin, while also helping to reduce breakouts.

What to do:

To create less of a mess, consider applying the mask while in the shower.

Using a tea cup or ramekin, mix your ingredients together with a makeup brush or spoon. Once evenly combined, apply to your face, massaging in a circular motion. If the paste is a bit too thick for you, add a tiny bit of water to thin it out.

Leave on 5-7 minutes, then wash off thoroughly with warm water and pat dry.
