Eyelash Care: 6 Tips No One Will Tell You

Well-maintained eyelashes add that extra glow to your face. However, getting the perfect eyelashes takes time and effort.

The following are tips on how to maintain your lashes and make them look long and curvy:

1. Don’t rub your eyes

To keep your eyelashes looking healthy, avoid rubbing your eyes when you feel irritated. That’s because rubbing can damage your lashes, causing them to fall off and be uneven. Instead, lightly touch your eye when you feel an itch.

2. Keep your lashes clean

When you go outside, your face is exposed to dust and fumes from vehicles. Some of that debris settles around your eyes and near the lashes, making them look a bit dusty. Use face wipes to get rid of that dirt and make your eyelashes shiny again.

3. Use petroleum jelly or lash serum

As a rule, if you wear mascara, never go to bed with it on. That’s because your eyelashes need to breathe so that they can grow long and beautiful. Thus, you should wash all makeup off your face before going to bed. Then, apply petroleum jelly on your lashes to keep them moisturized and looking fuller.

Consult with your doctor before using Vaseline because it can irritate people with sensitive skin.

Another useful thing to add to your eyelashes is lash serum because it speeds up growth.

4. Use an eyelash curler

The best way to get curly lashes is to make them curl. Use a manual eyelash curler to achieve the desired effect. When using the curler, unclamp it slowly to prevent damage to your lashes.

Also, don’t share your curler or borrow from someone else because you risk getting an infection.

5. Regulate mascara use (if you wear it)

To get the perfect eyelashes, avoid using mascara all the time. Your skin pores where the eyelashes are attached need to breathe. When you use mascara all the time, you block the pores and limit lash growth.

The ingredients used to make the mascara determines its effect on the skin. If you must use mascara, go for one made from natural ingredients because they are friendly on the pores.

6. Use an eyelash comb

Use an eyelash comb to separate the hairs, especially if you wear mascara. For your safety, don’t use a sharp object, such as a toothpick or pin, to separate the hairs.

Finally, getting long and curly eyelashes takes time. Therefore, be consistent and patient as you try the above methods.
